“Team Canmore” is a full-season program for golfers who are looking to take their golf games to the “next level”. While it is expected that participants will have some golfing experience, it is more important that they bring enthusiasm for golf and a willingness to learn and improve! Although each Team Member will have his/her own individualized training program, we work in a team environment where everyone supports each other’s efforts. Individualized training programs will be developed in accordance with Golf Canada’s Long Term Player Development model, which identifies a pathway to elite level competition. Of course, players who are more interested in golf as a recreational pursuit are welcome to join in training sessions and take part in friendly local competition.
- TC1: “Learn to Play” – ages 10 to 12. Program focuses on reinforcing technique fundamentals and learning the in’s and out’s of playing the golf course with an emphasis on etiquette (Golfer’s Pledge)
- TC2: “Introduction to Competition” – ages 12 to 14. Program focuses on refining techniques, advancing participants understanding of rules of play and exploring local competitions
- TC3: “Learning to Compete” – ages 12 to 18. Program focuses on practicing to compete with exposure to regional and provincial level competition
Monday golf rounds are supplemented by drop-in practice sessions on Wednesdays and Fridays from 4:00pm to 7:00pm; and Saturdays from 1:00pm to 4:00pm. The drop-in format means you can arrive as busy family schedules allow and stay as long as you like – and you can choose any or all of the practice days! Practice sessions will align with each individual’s personal training program. And since kids love to interact with technology, this program will include use of TrackMan radar and video sessions.
Prerequisites: Open to ages 11 and up. Completion of Project Par “red level 5” is highly suggested (previous Team Canmore participants exempt). It is expected that members of Team Canmore will be capable of playing independently on the course.
Schedule: TC1 – TC3 programs begin mid-April 2019. In the pre-season, we will work outdoors when possible, with indoor options available when necessary. On-course play (Mondays) will begin once the course is fully open with drop-in practices held between 4pm and 7pm Wednesdays and Fridays.
